Sue Richards and Sue Meader have been next-door-neighbours for over 18 years. Their children are similar ages, and the two Sues became great friends.

They decided to attend evening classes and found that their talents dovetailed well: Sue Richards has a talent for baking and Sue Meader is the expert Decorator. They started to create cakes for friends and family and this gradually developed into a thriving home-based business. They used to buy their supplies from a shop in Shirley, Southampton called The Cake Lady.

Unfortunately, the proprietor became seriously ill and sadly died very suddenly. A chance remark in the shop found Sue and Sue as the new proprietors.

Today the shop employs 8 people in addition to the two Sues: it sells cake decorating products, specially commissioned cakes and, in the new extension, now runs Cake Decorating Courses.
